Description

Human takes a refreshing look at the strange and wonderful primate ‘homo sapiens’ by juxtaposing a sequential collage of still images found by entering the word 'human' into an image search engine with the recordings of school children attempting to describe their own species to an imaginary alien.

The Internet, a web of information created by no one yet everyone, throws back at us the wondrous variety of different ways in which we see ourselves. This combined with the insightful and often poetic description made by children has the result of giving the audience a disconcerting yet intriguing sense of alienation from their own species.

Distribution

The film has been distributed and exhibited throughout the world through the British Council short film department including at the Tirana Biennale in Albania 2003, at the ICA in London through The Halloween Film Festival 2004, in The Mediale in Poland and at 4x4 at the 291Gallery London. The film has recently be broadcast by The Community Channel and was shown at The Loop Festival in Brighton.
